Biomedical science, built for the stratosphere

Biomedical science, built for the stratosphere

At Significa, we believe in empowering visionaries — especially when their mission combines the pursuit of space exploration with tangible benefits for human health. That’s why we’re proud to support ASPiRE, the official Aerospace Research Engineering team of the University of Western Macedonia, as they prepare for their most ambitious project yet: Project Solaris.

ASPiRE comprises 35 dedicated students who have already proven themselves in international aerospace competitions. The team is no stranger to high-level performance, with accolades including 1st place at CanSat Greece, a top 3 finish at the Spaceport America Cup, and the Modeling & Simulation award at the UAS Challenge UK. Their next step? Designing and launching a custom-built M-class rocket carrying a biomedical experiment to 10,000 feet, simulating the stress retinal tissue endures during spaceflight.

ASPiRE will represent Greece at the prestigious EuRoC 2025 in Portugal, as one of just eight teams globally selected in their category. At Significa, we’re proud to support projects embody curiosity, impact, and the power of learning by doing. This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and the brilliant minds shaping tomorrow.
